London venue The Drumsheds to shut permanently this month – DJ Mag

John Hopkins, Violet, Floating Points, Ben UFO, TSHA, Four Tet and more feature on the line-up for The Hydra’s send off
London venue The Drumsheds will shut permanently this month, with the final event set for Saturday 29th January 2022.
The 10,000 capacity complex bows out with a rescheduled event hosted by The Hydra, NOT TO BE, originally due to take place before Christmas and postponed due to concerns around the omicron coronavirus variant. Jon Hopkins, Floating Points & Four Tet, Carl Craig with Moodymann, Joy Orbison b2b Ben UFO, TSHA and Effy, and John Talabot and Violet are among the names that feature on an unarguably stacked lineup.
“Thank you for your patience while we’ve been working to reschedule our NOT TO BE show, which was unfortunately postponed in December,” The Hydra said in a statement. “As many of you recognised, postponing the show wasn’t a decision taken lightly – but it was the right call and we appreciate the ongoing support.
“NOT TO BE will also be the last ever show at The Drumsheds, which closes its doors next month. So, it was either this date, or cancelling the event altogether. But what a way to go, closing this outstanding venue with this show,” the message continued, going on to explain that announcement of the rescheduled date is unusually close to the  actualevent due to artist availability.

Originally opening its doors in 2019, and managed by agency and promotion giants Broadwick Live (London’s Printworks and Manchester’s Depot Mayfield), The Drumsheds was first used for the Field Day festival the same year. The space formed part of a huge £6billion redevelopment of the area, Meridian Water, and comprised four massive, interlinked warehouses and ten acres of outdoor space, bringing overall potential capacity to around 40,000 for large-scale one-off events
