The SP-10R was announced at IFA in Berlin
Technics are a company re-born, having come back from the brink of death only two years ago with the high-flying SL-1200 remake. Many DJs were disappointed that the iconic model number was re-appearing on a turntable that was out of the price range of most of their DJ user base.
Now, they’ve announced their “most premium turntable ever” the SP-10R – a high-end prototype unit they claim has the best signal-to-noise ratio in the world. Technics have used a 7kg brass, rubber and aluminium platter, coreless direct-drive motor and low-noise power supply that’s separated from the unit to provide even less interference.
Price and availability are still a mystery, if the units Technics have made since their re-birth are anything to go by, this is going to cost you. If you are on the lookout for a new turntable, Numark’s latest is definitely more of a bargain.
