Beloved audio brand Technics is back with a range of new turntables, wireless speakers, an all-in-one audio product and noise cancelling headphones.
Technics was born in 1955 as a sub brand of Panasonic specialising in high-quality audio products with an emphasis on design, sound and technology.
That philosophy has been reborn with these new line-up of products that include the Technics Grand ClassSL-1200G ($6,999), Technics Grand Class SL-1200GR/SL-1210GR ($2,749) and the Technics SL-1500C Premium Class ($1,999)
Also announced was the Technics SL-1210MK7 direct drive DJ turntable ($1,749), the Technics Ottava Premium Class Stereo Systems and compact wireless systems and the Technics EAH-F70N wireless hybrid active noise cancelling headphones ($599).
TURNTABLES
The Technics Grand Class SL-1200G Direct Drive turntable leads a line-up of four models designed for audio files who enjoy the unique sound quality of analogue vinyl records.
Parts were developed especially for this range to ensure high quality including the coreless direct drive motor, precise motor control technology, high rigidity platter and a high-sensitivity tone arm.
These turntables are designed for a wide range of users and not just for audio enthusiasts.
In the past there were issues that compromised sound quality including tiny vibrations of the motor and rotational speed fluctuations.
These issues have now been resolved thanks to a sensor system guided by a microprocessor.
The SL-1200G has a three-layered platter which combines heavyweight brass and aluminium and deadening rubber which work together to eliminate unnecessary residence and achieve vibration damping.
The Technics SL-1200GR and SL-1210GR inherit most of the technology of the SL-1200G and are available in black or silver.
The Technics SL-1500C also enjoys the brands high end sound quality and has a built-in phono EQ circuit connect to a wide variety of devices including wireless and standalone speakers.
DJs are rejoicing at the return of the Technics SL-1210MK7 – a call back to the original popular direct drive turntable that was first launched in 1972.
It maintains the same operating ease and reliability as well as new DJ play functions including reverse playback.
OTTAVA
The Ottava line-up includes Premium Compact Stereo System SC-C70 ($1,649), Premium Wireless Speaker System SC-C50 ($1,429), Compact Wireless Speaker System SC-C30 ($1,149).
The SC-C70 is an all-in-one system featuring a smooth acrylic glass plate covering the top loading CD compartment along with the aluminium touch keys.
Users can control the system through an app on their iPhone or Android device.
The SC-C70 has five two-way, 2.1 channel speakers and an acoustic louver and acoustic lenses to give the sound of a wider receiving area.
The SC-C50 and SC-C30 have thick aluminium top panels for added rigidity and an arc form designed to reduce vibration in the chassis and achieve a wider soundstage.
Each of these units also have Space Tune so they can be optimised for the room and can enjoy numerous sources including USB, Internet radio, Spotify, Tidal and high-res audio.
Wireless connectivity includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Airplay and DLNA.
HEADPHONES
The Technics EAH-F70N headphones have the same luxurious look and feel of the audio range and can support LDAC/apt-X HD for wireless, high-res equivalent sound reproduction.
Also onboard is hybrid active noise cancellation so the listener can be completely immersed in the music in any environment.
Under the hood are 40mm dynamic drivers with a bullet shaped dome for improved rigidity so the natural and linear high-frequency characteristics result in a smooth sound.
The noise cancelling system uses a mic mounted on the outside along with a mic located near the driver close to the year to reduce background noise.
There is also a three-level mode selector to adjust the level of noise cancellation when needed.
